It seems that the average American is very uninformed about the momentous decisions happening in D.C. Apathy for truth and misinformation is the biggest deterrent to a democratic state. It's either "universal healthcare" or "no big government take-over". Opinions are radically one-sided without exploring the details of a workable bi-partisan system. Clinton's failure was the rough economy that he chose to prioritize over healthcare. 10 years later, we are faced with the same dilemma. The economy took precedence then. If the conservatives get their way, the economy may take precedence again.
The money is tight and people are adverse to taking risk with the new. The key issue is controlling cost, but with this healthcare overhaul, the deficit is going to plunge further into the negatives. However, the state of healthcare needs a serious change. The question is do we have enough money to do it?
